If you are a games editor or a big fan of computers games, you probably need a video recorder for your games. Especially for games editors who are working for Television and want to present the gameplay of a specific game. Just need to start the application, enetr the game and press the hotkey for recording. the video files will be saved in AVI format. After this you can compress it with whatever compression tools you want.
The idea of this application is quite simple, but the results are not very good. First I couldn't start the application directly from the game through the hotkeys. Only by pressing the record button from the application and then entering the game I could start it. I had always a time limitation which I suppose comes from the fact that I have tested the shareware version of the software. The weird thing is that the limitation was not necessary constant. Sometimes I could create clips for over a minute, sometimes only for seconds.
There are three video compression formats which you can use depending on the computer you are using: Microsoft Video 1, DV Video Encoder, Cinepak Codec by Radius. Despite the fact that my system has 2 GB RAM memory, I could sense some freezing moments of the game if I used the DV Video Encoder with Bicubic scale. More than this, the video had a lack in frames. Same thing goes for the Microsoft Video 1 compression format and Cinepak Codec by Radius. It doesn't matter if you change the fps from 20 to 30 or to 5.
For your consideration I have used the game Need for Speed Underground to test this application. This is not anymore a next generation game to make problems to other applications. Despite these, there were problems with FastCapPro.
Pluses: can capture video games;
Drawbacks / flaws: lack of frames in the video clip; stops whenever he wants; hotkeys doesn't work;
In conclusion: Good for 2D games and for TBS games.
