The latest release brought to you by Mozilla for Internet browsing looks good, acts good and is a very friendly application. Considering the tabbed interface, which can be reordered via drag-and -drop, the faster browser navigation with improvement to back and forward button performance, the inbuilt pop-up blocking tool, spell checker for web-based text input forms and improvements to product stability, we may say that Mozilla Firefox is now a competitive product on the market.
There are 6 search engines included by default in the toolbar and you can also add any other search engine you can think of by using the "Manage Search Engines" window. Now you can completely customize Mozilla Firefox with lots of themes, extensions such as FoxGame, TiVo Community Forums Menu, R-kiosk, repagination, eMessenger Sidebar, autositemap, plugins and search engines downloadable from Mozilla Update.
It also comes with a powerful set of tools for developers including powerful JavaScript and CSS error/warning/rendering console and a quality feedback agent for reporting Firefox crash information.
On first run, you get the option to import options, bookmarks, history, passwords and other data from the browsers already installed on your computer. Application, extension and search engines updates are now pushed to the background and the inbuilt download manager is an excellent solution for downloading your favorite applications or multimedia files.
Pluses: Lots of new features which make Mozilla fully customizable, easy to use and proficient for browsing, visualizing multimedia online content or downloading. Newly implemented anti-phishing, browser session restore in case of a crash, support for client-side session and persistent storage, ability to re-open accidentally closed tabs are some of the features implemented into 2.0 RC 1 version. Mozilla Firefox 2.0 RC 1 is also available for Mac OS and Linux.
Some of the other new features worth mentioning are the inline spell checker, access to Live Titles, and the browser's ability to preview and subscribe to Web feeds.
Drawbacks / flaws:It would be nice to have a quick "New Tab" button for quicker access. However, if you press CTRL+T, Mozilla opens a new tab for browsing.
In conclusion: Newly implemented features and lots of plugins allow you to customize Mozilla Firefox. Overall, a very good Web browser and more. We are all waiting for the final release of version 2.0, but until then you can try this release candidate as I don't think that there isn't much room for improvement.
