Universal IM History Decoder helps you retrieve the history of your messages exchanged with your contacts over a selected period of time. You can retrieve messages exchanged in Yahoo! Messenger, ICQ, MSN (Windows Live) Messenger, Miranda. At least, that is what they advertise. In fact, the trial version does not recover more then today's messages and the trial version limits the program to 60 program launches. So far, so good. We tested the program: the program recovered all today's messages from Yahoo! Messenger and Windows Live Messenger. We even chose to manually add a Yahoo! profile in order to recover the messages. All done, nice and smooth. Now, the question is, does the program act so well even in case we select a longer period of time (the trial version allows you to recover only today's messages)? We sure hope so.
Pluses:
Drawbacks / flaws: Saving the history is limited to RTF and TXT file format, no option of saving in HTML or XML format.
In conclusion: In my opinion, the trial version allow the recovery of messages over a month or so, in order to get a real evaluation. Otherwise, this is a very good program.
